Eligibility Criteria for Coal India Limited Scholarships

• Candidates must have a BPL Card/Certificate.
• The certificate must be issued by authorized State/Central Government officials, such as:
  • District Magistrate/Collector
  • Block Development Officer (BDO)
  • Sub Divisional Officer (SDO)
  • Other Gazetted Officials are authorized to issue BPL certificates.
• The BPL certificate is required as proof of family income for eligibility.

Number of scholarships

• A total of 100 scholarships (94 scholarships for Engineering discipline and 06 Scholarship for Medical Disciplines)

Age Limit

• Maximum 25 years as of the first November of the current academic session.

Merit Criteria for Coal India Scholarship

• Considerations:
  • Rank secured in qualifying entrance exams:
    • IIT
    • AIEEE
    • AIPMT
    • AFMC
    • Other Central/State Govt. Entrance Exams for Govt.-owned Engineering & Medical Colleges
  • Marks obtained in the previous semester/year
• Excludes: Private/Self-financing Engineering & Medical colleges

How to Apply

• Download details & application format from www.coalindia.in
• Head of Institution will:
  • Scrutinize applications as per the CIL Scholarship Scheme
  • Send applications with a Forwarding Letter to:
    • Chief General Manager (Welfare), Coal India Limited, Coal Bhawan, 10, Netaji Subhas Road, Kolkata – 700001
  • Ensure submission before the last date

Scholarship Amount and Benefits

• Coverage: Total course fee for the entire duration
• Includes:
  • Full Tuition Fees
  • Hostel/Mess Charges (Accommodation charges)
  • Incidental Fee: ₹10,000 per academic session (covers electricity, water rent, caution money, etc.) or actual cost, whichever is lower
• Duration: From 1st year to final year
• Condition:
  • Students must clear all semesters/years in a single attempt
  • Must secure the required percentage in each exam as per Coal India’s criteria
